Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Dept RN with a TN or compact RN license and prior ED, critical care, or acute-care experience for a fast-paced trauma unit.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Dept-Trauma unit of a hospital setting
  • Care for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies
  • Perform triage, rapid assessments, and ongoing monitoring of vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and neurological status
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other ordered treatments
  • Initiate and maintain IV access and obtain lab specimens
  • Assist with emergency procedures including CPR, trauma resuscitation, intubation, and wound care
  • Operate emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators
  • 12-hour shifts from 10:00-22:30
  • 12-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active TN or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • ACLS certification required (AHA)
  • PALS certification may be required (AHA)
  • TNCC certification may be preferred or required
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification may be required
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • Prior emergency department, critical care, or acute-care nursing experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making skills required
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare team members
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
  • Follow infection-control procedures, medication-safety practices, and hospital policies
  • Participate in emergency preparedness, quality-improvement initiatives, and continuing education
  • Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
  • Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate that varies by facility location
  • First-time travelers may be considered
