Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring NC or compact RN licensure and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Details

  • Emergency Department unit with 16 beds in a 109 licensed bed facility
  • Advanced Primary Stroke Center with no trauma designation and not a teaching hospital
  • Pediatric and adult patient population with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled DM, and minor trauma
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity, CNA ratio of 1:10
  • 12-hour night shift schedule from 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within Region 1 including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Support team includes CNA, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7, ED physician team, and bedside/central tele monitoring

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI may be obtained within 30 days of start)
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
  • Experience with general ED skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency department nursing care across a broad range of pediatric and adult diagnoses
  • Travelers must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
  • Navy scrub color required

  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Candidates previously employed in a permanent role at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
