Registered Nurse II - Tele Float Pool

Job Overview

This role is for a Registered Nurse II in the Tele Float Pool, covering MedSurg, Cardiology, and Neurology units. The nurse will be required to work 12-hour shifts on the night schedule, with guaranteed hours of 36 hours per week.

Shift Requirements

• 4 weekend shifts per schedule (Saturday/Sunday)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First to float between units

Unit Information

The role involves floating between various Telemetry and MedSurg units. Based on skill level, nurses may float to ICU and Cardiac Tele units as well. Floating can occur between multiple locations within the region, with notifications given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. There may be mid-shift floating between units.

Telemetry Units Overview

• CV Tele B3A
  • 32 beds
  • Ratios: 1:3-4
  • Common diagnoses include post-cath lab, post-vascular procedures, and surgical patients.
• A3 Neuro
  • 28 beds
  • Ratios: 1:3-4
  • Common diagnoses include neuro post-surgical patients and CVAs.
• Medical-Surgical Units
  • C5: 32 beds, focusing on Orthopedic, Surgical, and Oncology patients.
  • B2C: 29 beds, focusing on general MedSurg patients requiring telemetry.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• MUST BE ABLE TO TITRATE CARDIAC DRIPS.
• Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing and a pass/fail Simulation Lab on the first day of orientation.

Additional Information

Weekend shift requirements are set at 4 shifts per 4-week period. Each unit has a dedicated clinical supervisor and charge nurse present, with available support staff as needed. Each nurse will have access to 24/7 RT and pharmacy services.

Commonly used technology includes centralized telemetry systems, along with GE monitors in several units. Nurses are expected to interpret EKGs and work collaboratively with hospitalist teams for patient care.
