Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed Beacon Award-winning Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU serving as the referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
• Care for patients with congenital heart disease across all ages with a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses
• Unit performs cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, and CRRT
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• All beds are monitored beds
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule with holiday rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to meet facility needs within scope
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certification required (American Heart Association only); ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
• Cardiovascular and pediatric experience required
• VAD experience highly preferred
• Berlin Heart and HeartMate3 experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, and central line blood draws
• Skilled in congenital heart disease/repair, hemodynamic monitoring, and post cardiac surgery care
• CRRT experience preferred
• Social Security card and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac conditions
• Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
• Located at a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital
• Pediatric palliative care available as needed for patients
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on position needs
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All RTO must be submitted at time of application; approval is based on unit needs
• Candidates within 60 miles are considered local and evaluated at a different rate
• Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
• During hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
