Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU, the referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
• Care for patients with congenital heart disease across all ages, with a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses
• Average daily census of 26 with all beds monitored
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• Unit supports ECMO, CRRT, VAD, heart transplant, and cardiac catheterization procedures
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 4 weekend shifts required within a 4-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• Floating required to meet facility needs as scope allows
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC EMR used, experience required
• Travel pairs not accepted for this unit

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted); ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
• Additional CV and pediatric experience required
• VAD experience highly preferred
• Berlin Heart and HeartMate3 experience preferred
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, chest tube and tracheostomy management, and central line care
• Experience with antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and post cardiac surgery care
• CRRT experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac needs
• Work alongside Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
• Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, teaching hospital, and Magnet-designated with 820 staffed beds
• Unit has received the Gold Beacon Award and is ranked among the top pediatric cardiac programs in the nation
• Pediatric palliative care services available as needed
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on qualifications
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a reduced rate; non-local candidates prioritized
• All RTO must be submitted at time of application for consideration
• Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June through November)
