Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) nurse position in a high-acuity, nationally-recognized cardiovascular and thoracic surgical program. The role involves circulating in a fast-paced, complex environment, supporting a variety of advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures with a team of highly skilled surgeons. The assignment ensures comprehensive exposure to a broad spectrum of cardiovascular surgeries, ideal for experienced OR nurses seeking to expand their specialized skills.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with shift times from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM or 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Minimum of 40 hours per week. Shift notes include call minimum requirements of one weekday and one full weekend per month, with potential variation based on staffing needs.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; BLS and ACLS certifications; at least 3 years of cardiovascular operating room circulating experience; experience or proficiency with scrubbing preferred but not required; no trauma level required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with high-acuity cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, including CABG, MVR, AVR, Kidney Transplant, Robotics (Thoracic and Cardiac), Peripheral Vascular, Thoracic, Aortic Repair, Vascular Access, Hybrid procedures (TEVAR/EVAR, TAVR), Impella, IABP, ECMO.
- Additional Information: The position is within a specialty unit performing a high volume of complex cardiovascular cases. Candidates should have the ability to adapt general CVOR knowledge to varied surgical approaches and support multiple surgeons. High acuity environment requires strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making, and teamwork. Shifts may include weekend and holiday coverage, with mandatory call response time of 30 minutes.
