Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year in CVICU and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Magnet-designated facility with 933 beds
  • 30-bed Critical Care CVICU unit
  • 12-hour night shift, 7p-7a, with 36 or 48-hour contracts available
  • Patient population includes immediate post-op cardiac (CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs, heart transplants, pacemakers), thoracic surgeries (esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy), and vascular surgeries (AAA, TVAR, carotid endarterectomy)
  • RN patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2 for regular ICU status, or 1:3 for mixed status
  • Tech ratio of 1:8-10
  • Bedside/nurses station telemetry monitoring with no dedicated tele tech
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors
  • Floating required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU, Sitter duty, or PACU Surge
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • 1-2 holidays required per contract
  • 6-week scheduling cycle with schedules provided 1-2 weeks in advance

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
  • Competency in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Specific CV surgical experience (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD) preferred
  • RN candidates draw from invasive lines but do not perform peripheral sticks
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Support includes charge nurse, 24/7 HUC, dedicated CVICU intensivist, on-call CT surgeon, onsite hospitalist, general intensivist, and dedicated ICU RT
  • Phlebotomy team assists with peripheral blood draws
  • One day of orientation including 2-4 hours of facility NEO followed by unit-based preceptorship
  • Facility follows a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • Scrubs must be a solid professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
  • Free parking available with shuttle service for day shift and attached parking structure for night shift
  • First-time travelers considered as long as experience requirements are met
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved per contract
