Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring an OH or compact RN license and prior cardiac ICU experience.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting at a heart hospital
  • Estimated patient ratios of 1:1-2
  • Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) shifts available, 3x12 hour schedules
  • Weekday schedule with up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Saturday/Sunday for day shift, Friday/Saturday for night shift)
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Epic EMR used, experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
  • 2 years of Cardiac ICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills required: IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz monitoring, conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and PA lines
  • Experience with CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and post cardiac surgery patients
  • Experience with IABP, CVP monitoring, and epicardial pacing wire care and management
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience managing ventilated patients, including BiPAP/CPAP, suctioning, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to complex cardiovascular ICU patients, including pre/post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization/intervention cases
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract, with candidates either driving to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as travelers
