Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring a CA RN license and prior travel and CVICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • Cares for post-cardiac surgery, ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, and TAVR patients among other complex cardiovascular cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
  • Schedule includes Sun-Sat rotation with option for Fri/Sat/Sun block schedule
  • Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle and at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
  • May be required to float to like or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across a 5-hospital health system

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required; CRRT, LVAD, and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU-specific experience, including experience within the last year
  • 1.5+ years of continuous experience in specialty without breaks (except for floating)
  • Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months of work history
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and cardiac surgery recovery care
  • 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
  • Valid certification copies required; no pending or expired certifications accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care to critically ill cardiovascular patients including those on ECMO, LVAD, or IABP support
  • No first-time travelers considered for this position
  • Returning staff or travelers must wait 1 year after separation before reapplying
  • Maximum 7 days of requested time off (RTO); no additional RTO requests permitted after consideration
  • Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of San Diego to qualify as non-local, except LVNs/LPNs
  • Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or longer are considered local and ineligible
  • Interview availability required, including specific days/times and time zone
