Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CA RN licensure and 2+ years of concurrent CVICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Sunday through Saturday
  • Block scheduling of Friday/Saturday/Sunday available if desired
  • 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week cycle
  • At least one holiday required, including the holiday weekend
  • May be required to float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across the health system's 5 San Diego hospitals
  • ICU RNs required to float at or below skillset, occasionally to another campus
  • Epic EMR used across all units

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Preferred certifications: CRRT, LVAD, TNCC
  • 2+ years of CVICU-specific experience, including experience within the last year
  • 1.5 years of continuous experience in specialty without breaks (except for floating)
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months
  • 1 year of total travel experience required, with 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
  • No gaps in travel experience within the last 6 months, except minimal pre-approved vacations or brief onboarding/relocation gaps
  • 1 supervisory-level professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care to cardiovascular ICU patients including post cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, and structural heart intervention cases
  • Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not eligible unless they are LVNs/LPNs
  • Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or more are considered local and ineligible
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
  • Returning staff or travelers must wait 1 year before reapplying
  • Maximum 7 days RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration
  • Interview availability for same-day or within the next 3 business days is preferred
