Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring OH or compact RN licensure and prior cardiac ICU experience.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting in a teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, LVAD/RVAD, and ECMO patients
  • Estimated patient ratios of 1:1-2
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
  • 36 hours per week
  • Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
  • Epic experience required
  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required include IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, and intra-aortic balloon pump management
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular surgical and interventional patients
  • Manage patients with hemodynamic monitoring devices including PA lines, arterial lines, and balloon pumps
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Care for patients on ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
  • Administer emergency medications and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract
