ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced critical care environment. This role requires strong clinical skills and experience in providing high-quality patient care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).

Unit Information

• Unit Name: CICU
• Number of Beds: 16
• Patient Ratios: 2/1 or 1/1 (occasionally 3/1 depending on acuity)
• Staffing: RNs only (no HUC or PCT)
• Equipment: Ventilators, Telemetry, Baxter IV Pump, IABP, CRRT, Impella, Hypothermia equipment
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling: 36 hours/week, alternating weekends, 12-hour shifts
• Floating Policy: Travelers may float to all areas within the unit

Responsibilities

As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will:

• Monitor and assess patient conditions in a critical care setting
• Administer medication and treatments as ordered
• Manage and titrate vesicant medications safely
• Utilize advanced equipment and technology relevant to critical care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Perform various procedures including cardioversion, central line insertion, and thoracentesis

Qualifications

• Required Experience: ICU experience is mandatory
• Skills:
  • Titration of vesicant medications
  • Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
  • Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, and telemetry interpretation
  • Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup
  • Knowledge of transvenous pacing, cardioversion, and TEE
  • Familiarity with chest tube insertions and maintenance
• Advanced Skills: IABP, Impella, and CRRT knowledge is desirable
• Certifications: CCRN is recommended but not required

Scrubs should be navy or navy and white; no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs unless soiled. Adherence to the specified uniform colors is mandatory.
