Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring prior trauma and surgical ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a 20-bed Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) at a Magnet-designated, ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio
  • Unit staffed with RNs, a supervisor, PCT, and ICU waiting room HUC on both AM and PM shifts
  • Uses EVDs, Camino/bolts, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, GE Carescape bedside monitors, GE ventilators, iCool machines, Blanketrol, Bair Hugger, Prisma Max CRRT, Zoll, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and Alaris PCA pumps
  • Documentation completed in Cerner PowerChart
  • Follows a 6-week schedule requiring 6 weekend shifts
  • Modified self-scheduling available
  • Travelers float before core staff and may float to other ICUs (MICU, NSICU, CVICU, CICU) or Step Down

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Trauma ICU experience required (Level I or Level II Trauma Center)
  • Surgical ICU experience required
  • LTAC experience not considered
  • Experience with procedures such as intubation, extubation, chest tube placement, central line placement, A-line placement, Foley placement, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, proning, TPA administration, hypertonic medication administration, trach placement, EVD/bolt placement, CRRT/HD, irrigation and debridement, and minor surgery
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity surgical trauma ICU setting
  • Team-oriented environment valuing kind, compassionate, flexible, and positive individuals
  • Required dress code: all navy or all white scrubs, or navy bottoms with a white top
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
  • First-time travelers not specified as excluded
