Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for a night shift ICU float position requiring multi-unit ICU experience and a Level I Trauma background.

Details

  • Critical Care Float role rotating across multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgery, plus IMC/Progressive/General care populations
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30 (4x12 schedules also accepted)
  • Every other weekend and some holidays required
  • Floating required as needed across units
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Level I Trauma academic teaching hospital setting

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being submitted to
  • 5 years of experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Academic teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict scoring criteria for both adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
  • Skills required include IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care preferred
  • Experience with ECMO, Impella, IABP, and Swan Ganz monitoring preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across a variety of high-acuity ICU settings, including cardiovascular, neuro, burn, and trauma patients
  • Manage complex interventions such as ventilator care, continuous sedation, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Work within a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked academic medical center
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • First-time travelers considered if academic Level I Trauma ICU experience is met
