Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring ventilator management skills and flexibility to float across multiple ICUs.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital
  • Floats to various ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
  • Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend night shifts (Friday/Saturday) plus one additional night shift per week

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Required skills: IV therapy, IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management
  • Required skills: arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration
  • Required skills: care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Required skills: titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications
  • Required skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, IV insulin protocols
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Previous travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing support across multiple ICU specialties based on facility needs
  • Fingerprinting must be completed urgently in Ohio upon signing contract due to strict state credentialing requirements
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted
  • Former employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
