Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring OH or compact RN license and ventilator management experience.

Details

• Critical Care Float Pool position floating across multiple ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
• Floating is limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) plus one additional night shift, 36 hours/week
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Required skills include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
• Additional critical care skills include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Experience with care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across a variety of ICU settings based on facility staffing needs
• Support includes managing complex cases such as CVA/stroke, post-cardiac surgery, GI surgery, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Former employees are eligible for assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of this health system are not eligible to work as travelers at any of its Ohio hospital locations
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will be mailed a fingerprinting packet
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
