Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring an OH or compact RN license and ventilator management experience.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position within a teaching hospital setting
  • Floats to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, and SICU/MICU/NCCU
  • Floating is required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM) with weekend coverage plus one shift during the week
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Proficiency with EPIC required
  • Required skills include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
  • Additional skills include central line care, arterial line management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration required
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties based on unit needs and patient acuity
  • Responsibilities include managing ventilated patients, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering IV therapies
  • Skilled care may include CVA/stroke management, EVD and ICP monitoring, and post cardiac surgery care depending on unit assignment
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be requested at time of submission and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for a traveler position
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this role given the travel experience requirement
