Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Critical Care ICU Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in a teaching hospital's Critical Care Float Pool
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Float to a variety of ICUs based on staffing needs and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
  • Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Required skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management experience
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing support across multiple ICU specialties as part of a float pool team
  • Skills utilized may include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • May assist with chest tube insertion/removal, EVD and ICP monitoring, CVA/acute stroke management, and cardiac dysrhythmia management
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon signing contract, either by driving to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet
