Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience: Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent: Preferred
  • Experience in Cath Lab or Special Procedures: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Preferred
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) certification in the state of practice: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification: Required

Essential Functions

  • Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization.
  • Positions and immobilizes patients on the examining table, following specified protocols.
  • Enters technical factors determined by protocol, including radiation beam quality and filming sequences, into the computer.
  • Adjusts the examining table and manipulates x-ray tube positions as per physician instructions.
  • Initiates automatic injection of contrast medium into patients’ blood vessels.
  • Activates fluoroscopy and motion picture camera to produce images for assisting in catheter guidance.
  • Provides patients with clear explanations of procedures and detailed discharge instructions.
  • Monitors and observes data from gauges and video screens related to patient responses during imaging procedures.
  • Alerts the physician to any changes in patient conditions during procedures.
  • Monitors and controls environmental factors such as temperature and safety measures.
  • Assists physicians with interventional procedures, including enzyme instillations or balloon insertions to remove blockages.
  • Maintains accurate and updated documentation in adherence to program standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
