Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience: Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent: Preferred
- Experience in Cath Lab or Special Procedures: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Preferred
- Radiologic Tech (RT) certification in the state of practice: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification: Required
Essential Functions
- Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization.
- Positions and immobilizes patients on the examining table, following specified protocols.
- Enters technical factors determined by protocol, including radiation beam quality and filming sequences, into the computer.
- Adjusts the examining table and manipulates x-ray tube positions as per physician instructions.
- Initiates automatic injection of contrast medium into patients’ blood vessels.
- Activates fluoroscopy and motion picture camera to produce images for assisting in catheter guidance.
- Provides patients with clear explanations of procedures and detailed discharge instructions.
- Monitors and observes data from gauges and video screens related to patient responses during imaging procedures.
- Alerts the physician to any changes in patient conditions during procedures.
- Monitors and controls environmental factors such as temperature and safety measures.
- Assists physicians with interventional procedures, including enzyme instillations or balloon insertions to remove blockages.
- Maintains accurate and updated documentation in adherence to program standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
