Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 5, 2026
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Orientation: 12 hours
- Unit: 16-bed cardiac stepdown and progressive care unit
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:3–4 overnight; up to 1:5 for medical-surgical patients
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call: Not required
- Floating: First to float within the nurse’s skill set, including nearby affiliated campuses when needed
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a current compact or applicable state license
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience, including a minimum of 1 full year in a cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or similar high-acuity setting
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
- Level II trauma experience
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent EPIC charting experience and willingness to complete a skills checkoff
- Strong telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation skills; travelers must successfully complete telemetry testing
- Demonstrated patient assessment, critical-thinking, adaptability, and teamwork skills
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac catheterizations, stent placements, cardiac interventions, and pacemaker procedures
- Care for patients with sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, cerebrovascular accidents, behavioral health or CIWA needs, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other complex medical conditions
- Monitor patients requiring CPAP, feeding tubes, hypothermia therapy, and postoperative care
- Interpret cardiac telemetry and 12-lead EKGs and recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or patient condition
- Initiate and titrate ordered infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and other critical-care medications
- Perform neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, dysphagia screenings, and thorough postoperative assessments
- Manage assigned patients safely while collaborating with providers, charge nurses, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Float within the nurse’s competency level and support team operations across nearby affiliated campuses when required
- Contribute to a teaching environment that may include precepting students or newly hired staff
