Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit – Seattle, WA 98122
Start Date: November 16, 2026
Location: Seattle, Washington
Schedule: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30). Every other weekend required. Floating to like units as needed. 26-week assignment.
Highlights:
- Surgical Telemetry PCU specializing in cardiac care including pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, and structural heart procedures
- Patient population includes myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (may be 1:5 at midnight)
- 36-bed unit with daily census of 32 patients, serving adult and geriatric populations
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- Advanced cardiac care experience with specialized equipment including LVAD, chest tubes, epicardial pacers, and telemetry monitoring
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Epic charting system experience is mandatory
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Surgical telemetry experience required, including open heart surgery and vascular procedures
- Proficiency with radial/groin band management, IV skills, and NIH stroke scale
- Experience managing post-operative open heart patients (24-28 hours post-op), chest tubes, and sternal precautions
- Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, and cardiac/vasoactive drip management
- Optional but preferred: VAD and TAVR experience
- Two professional references covering one year within the last three years
- Flexibility to float to similar units and work required weekends
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
