License: Maine CNA license required. Certifications: BLS, MOAB (will obtain on site). Must-Have: Experience working with adolescent and pediatric patients, comfortable with redirection and de-escalation, assisting with ADLs, rounding every 7.5 minutes, acting as 1:1 sitter, participating in physical holds, obtaining EKGs if needed. Description: Immediate start needed. Interviews will be simplified, with manager approval. Facility is a free-standing acute inpatient facility. All patients are medically cleared. Typical to not have lines, drains, tubes, etc. Unit has 50 pediatric beds. Census averages include involuntary and voluntary admissions. Will primarily care for adolescents and pediatric patients aged 5-18. Common patient diagnoses include autism, self-mutilation, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, gender dysphoria, trauma, and sexual trauma. Day shift will have a ratio of 6 Psych Techs to patients. Night shift will have a ratio of 2 Psych Techs to patients. General skills required include punctuality, good attitude, and flexibility. Support within the department includes a Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, and Charge Nurse. Manager is open to discussing issues with travelers. Staff will respond to patient escalations. Technology used includes EMR and specific unit equipment. May float to adult unit if needed. Weekend rotation is every other weekend with holiday expectations to work in rotation. Modified self-scheduling available. Scrub color is any solid color, professional. Unit culture supports teamwork and collaboration among staff.
