The Transportation Program Manager is an essential part of Tesla s GFNV Transportation Team, which falls under the umbrella of Gigafactory Workforce. Employees working in this role are supporting the drive towards completing Tesla s mission-to accelerate the world s transition to sustainable energy. As a Transportation Program Manager, you will be working under the guidance of the Staff Transportation Manager with a key focus on improving the Nevada Tesla transportation program, which combines elements of commuter service and inter-campus shuttle. The program is a 24/7 operation administered by Tesla staff but operated by a private vendor. Tesla s ideal candidate will have a planning background and experience with GIS, GTFS datasets, CAD/AVL systems, and schedule optimization software such as HASTUS, OptiBus, or Remix. This is a salaried position that may require working outside in extreme environments, working at heights, and prolonged periods of repetitious duties including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Support the Staff Transportation Manager in monitoring contractor performance through the creation of BI/Power BI dashboards to establish and track appropriate KPIs
- Facilitate ongoing improvements by working on various data-oriented projects to support data-driven decision making
- Generate automation through the use of AI and related reporting tools to facilitate timely dissemination of key events and operational updates
- Utilize optimization software to create vehicle blocks and run cuts to analyze efficiency ratios between vehicles and routes
- Create and coordinate a GTFS framework for a closed-loop system
- Manage time and tasks effectively with a sense of urgency
- Provide an exceptional customer experience to all stakeholders, both internal and external
- Experience in planning with a background in transportation highly preferred, including familiarity with open and closed-loop transportation systems and optimizing for efficiency across real-world variables such as customers, assets, traffic, and the built environment
- Proficiency with transportation-specific tools and technologies, including GIS tools and datasets, GTFS datasets, CAD/AVL systems, and schedule optimization software such as HASTUS, OptiBus, or Remix
- Experience creating transportation schedules with an understanding of their financial impact
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think independently and outside the box
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple assignments simultaneously
- Demonstrated reliability and excellent attendance, essential for team success
