    Starting Compensation:

    25.00 - 26.00 USD Per Hour

    Working Location:

    Torrance, CA

    Working Hours/Shift:

    Tuesday - Saturday (flexibility)

    What you bring to SBHG (Qualifications):

    Driving Requirements:

    • Active, valid California Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with a Passenger (P) endorsement (Required).
    • Clean DMV driving record printout.
    • Must meet all regulatory age requirements for commercial transport.
    • Flexibility and willingness to fluctuate work hours to accommodate client transportation schedules.

    Education & Experience | Must meet one of the following:

    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) PLUS one (1) year of direct service experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents.
    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) PLUS two (2) years of direct service experience working with emotionally disturbed adults.

    Core Skills:

    • Willingness to work as direct care staff in the milieu when not actively transporting clients.
    • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, staff, and the public.
    • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision.

    How you will make a difference (job overview):

    The Transportation Clerk is responsible for transporting clients to off-site appointments and outings, as well as other transportation assignments. When no transporting assignments are provided, acts as Mental Health Worker. Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures. Coordinates and schedules client transportation, as directed. Documents clients appointments, behavior and any pertinent interactions in the medical record system. Monitors clients during transportation. Conducts vehicle safety check before each use. Protects clients from behavior which could damage their self esteem and/or the facilities relationship with other agencies. Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observation, concerns and asking appropriate questions. Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment and supplies.

    • Facility & Setting: 24/7 locked, highly secure inpatient residential campus operating with the highest standards of dignity and care since 1988.
    • Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF), Community Treatment Facility (CTF), and an on-site Non-Public High School (SBHS).
    • Clinical Services: Multidisciplinary mental health services, Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), and Intensive Day Treatment Program.
