Job Description
Summary
Long Island University (LIU) seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Operations Coordinator to provide the Head Coach with administrative and operational support for the LIU Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country programs. This part-time position includes assisting with the coordination of team operations, travel, recruiting logistics, scheduling, and day to day administrative functions that contribute to a first-class student-athlete experience.
This is a part-time position (August- May ~ 20 hours per week) based on the Post campus with responsibilities supporting both the Post and Brooklyn campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Operations: Coordinate team travel, including itineraries, lodging, transportation, and meal planning. Assist with facility and transportation reservations/rentals. \u2022 Meet Management: Assist with home meet operations and event management.
- Recruiting Operations: Assist the Director of Recruiting with administrative recruiting responsibilities. Coordinate official and unofficial recruiting visits. Prepare recruiting itineraries and campus visit schedules. Assist with maintaining recruiting databases and organizational records.
- Communication & Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between coaching staff and departments including Compliance, Athletic Training, Facilities, Academic Services, Equipment, Marketing, and the Business Office. Assist in communicating schedules, travel information, and operational updates to student-athletes and staff.
- Academic Support: Assist with team functions, alumni engagement events, and community outreach initiatives. Support fundraising and donor engagement activities as assigned. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field.
- Compliance: Uphold NCAA, conference, and university regulations at all times. Promote a program committed to integrity and ethical standards.
- Community Engagement: Represent LIU and the Cross Country and Track & Field program within the campus and local communities. Assist in outreach initiatives and foster connections with alumni and supporters.
- Budget Management: Assist with aspects of the program budget, ensuring efficient and responsible use of resources. Duties may include budget reconciliation and monitoring.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, staff, and administration.
- Commitment to adhering to NCAA regulations and LIU's mission and values.
- Willingness to work occasional irregular hours and travel including evenings and weekends
- Valid US driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience working in NCAA Athletics
- Experience with community engagement and building program visibility.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance procedures.
- Experience coordinating team travel or athletics operations
- Familiarity with ARMS/Teamworks.
