Role Summary
We are seeking a Team Lead/Manager to oversee a blended team of Developers and Business Systems Analysts working on API development initiatives in a healthcare payor environment. This leader will provide both technical direction and operational oversight, ensuring seamless collaboration between analysts and developers to deliver high-quality API solutions. The role requires strong healthcare data knowledge, hands-on technical credibility, and proven experience managing cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Unified Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a combined team of Developers and BSAs, fostering collaboration and accountability across roles.
End-to-End Delivery: Own the full lifecycle of API initiatives — requirements, design, development, testing, and production support.
Technical Oversight: Ensure functional/technical specifications, Swagger/JSON documentation, and integration standards are consistently applied.
Healthcare Data Expertise: Guide the team in handling Claims, Provider, Benefits, Membership/Enrollment, and Coverage data domains.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, developers, and analysts to align technical solutions with business needs.
Quality Assurance Leadership: Review and approve test plans, coordinate with QA/UAT teams, and ensure production readiness.
Operational Support: Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production issues, ensuring API stability in AWS cloud environments.
Process Governance: Establish best practices for Agile and Waterfall delivery, documentation standards, and team workflows.
Required Experience
12+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in team leadership or management roles.
Proven success managing integrated teams of Developers and Analysts.
Strong background in API development and integration projects, especially real-time transaction environments.
Hands-on Java development experience to credibly guide technical discussions.
Proficiency in data analysis using NoSQL and relational databases.
Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical and executive audiences.
Experience managing delivery in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior leadership experience in healthcare IT projects.
Familiarity with AWS cloud services and API lifecycle management.
Strong ability to synthesize complex requirements into actionable deliverables.
Background in vendor management or cross-departmental process leadership.
