Provide professional development to staff on effective integration of media and technology into the curriculum and on the ethical uses of information and copyright. Must be able to oversee city‑wide computer needs and the acquisition and circulation of materials/equipment.Essential FunctionsWork with knowledge of the Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements; knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, current research best practices and strategies, and students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.Teach students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving.Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on student needs and abilities.Assess students' developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, interesting and culturally, gender, and ability inclusive.Collaborate and communicate regularly with families to make educational decisions and use community resources to support learning.Understand the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school goals; support and work toward achieving those goals.Assess own instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP) and participate in ongoing staff, team, and individual professional development.Education and Experience GuidelinesBachelor's Degree from an accredited university.Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural setting.Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration and/or job‑embedded staff development.License and Certification RequirementsA valid Minnesota teaching license in K–12 Library Media Specialist; or proof of pending approved licensure.Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee.
