    Key Responsibilities

    • Partner with affluent families, business owners, and their advisors to identify opportunities that improve tax efficiency and support long-term financial objectives.
    • Review complex tax situations involving individuals, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses, providing practical planning recommendations.
    • Design and evaluate forward-looking tax strategies that align with clients' personal, business, and legacy goals.
    • Analyze the financial impact of planning decisions and help clients understand potential outcomes, tradeoffs, and risks.
    • Provide guidance during significant life and business events, including ownership transitions, liquidity events, and wealth-transfer decisions.
    • Assess planning opportunities related to estate strategies, charitable giving, executive compensation, investments, and real estate holdings.
    • Research tax legislation, emerging planning concepts, and technical issues to uncover opportunities and identify potential concerns.
    • Stay current on federal and state tax developments and communicate relevant implications to clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with attorneys, accountants, financial professionals, and other trusted advisors to support comprehensive planning solutions.
    • Translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance for both clients and colleagues.
    • Contribute to the development of internal resources, planning frameworks, and educational content that enhance the client experience.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of recommendations, planning assumptions, and ongoing action items while advocating for solutions that are both technically sound and aligned with client objectives.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience advising high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, and closely held business owners on sophisticated tax and wealth-planning matters.
    • Strong technical knowledge across individual, trust, estate, and business taxation, including complex ownership structures and planning scenarios.
    • Demonstrated ability to evaluate planning opportunities through both a technical and practical lens, balancing tax benefits with real-world client objectives.
    • Comfortable analyzing tax returns, financial information, and planning projections to identify opportunities and potential concerns.
    • Excellent research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a natural curiosity for complex tax issues.
    • Ability to communicate nuanced tax concepts in a straightforward, client-friendly manner.
    • Confident in asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, and identifying planning risks before they become issues.
    • Collaborative approach when working alongside attorneys, accountants, advisors, and other professionals involved in a client's planning process.
    • Strong professional judgment coupled with a commitment to accuracy, discretion, and client service.
    • Self-motivated and proactive, with a desire to stay current on evolving tax laws and planning techniques.

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline required.
    • CPA designation strongly preferred; advanced tax credentials such as a JD or LL.M. in Taxation are also valued.
    • 5+ years of experience in tax planning, tax advisory, private client services, or a related field.
    • Background working with estates, trusts, closely held businesses, business owners, and complex wealth-transfer situations is highly desirable.
    • Experience supporting clients through sales, succession planning, recapitalizations, or other significant liquidity events is a plus.
    • Prior tax compliance experience is beneficial; however, this position is focused primarily on advisory work, planning, strategy, and client consultation rather than high-volume return preparation.
