A growing accounting and financial consulting firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee an established book of business, lead a team of tax professionals, and help shape the continued growth of its tax practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Oversee daily tax department operations, deadlines, and workflow
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior tax professionals and direct reports
  • Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services
  • Manage client relationships and deliver exceptional service
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Improve tax processes, procedures, and workpaper systems
  • Support department growth and the integration of acquired practices
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and operational improvements
  • Recommend innovative solutions that improve efficiency and the client experience

Qualifications

  • CPA preferred; Enrolled Agent credentials will also be considered
  • Public accounting experience required
  • Experience with a mid-sized regional accounting firm strongly preferred
  • At least two years of management or direct-report leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and tax-planning strategies
  • Experience reviewing complex individual, business, trust, and nonprofit returns
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate work and develop team members
  • Strong client-service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, growing organization
  • Strong leadership, integrity, judgment, and accountability

Location: Richmond, VA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Work Arrangement: Hybrid; 3–4 days per week in the office
Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually
