Job DetailsTAX MANAGER
A well-established Cleveland-area accounting firm is seeking a Tax Manager to take ownership of technical review, client relationships, and staff development within its tax practice. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants real client-facing responsibility and a direct line to firm leadership, supporting individuals, trusts, and small businesses.
Responsibilities
- Technically review business, trust, and individual income tax returns, managing tasks from start to finish with accuracy and efficiency
- Identify and resolve tax issues, offering recommendations that improve client outcomes and support client growth
- Deliver timely, high-quality work that meets or exceeds client expectations
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
- Serve as Engagement Manager on specific accounts, owning planning, execution, and final delivery
- Schedule staff, manage the tax compliance process, and keep firm leadership informed on engagement status
- Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships as a primary point of contact
- Delegate work effectively, and support staff development by building their technical and industry skills
- Stay current on tax trends, developments, and technical guidance, applying them to moderately complex client situations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- CPA certification or EA required
- 6-8 years of experience in individual and business tax compliance
- Strong knowledge of corporate, trust, and partnership taxation
- Working knowledge of state income/franchise tax for multi-state filers
- Broad exposure to federal income taxation
- Excellent managerial, organizational, and tax research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
- Business development skills a plus, not required
