Job DetailsHIGH NET WORTH TAX MANAGER
An established DC-area CPA firm is seeking a High Net Worth Tax Manager to lead tax compliance and planning for individuals, trusts, and family groups. You'll be the primary contact for these clients, review complex returns, and mentor the associates and seniors who prepare them.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for high-net-worth individuals and families, building long-term advisory relationships
- Review complex federal, state, and local returns, including individual and trust returns, and manage multi-state issues when they arise
- Develop planning strategies across income tax, estate and gift, trust structuring, charitable giving, executive compensation, and investments
- Research complex tax questions, flag risks and planning opportunities, and communicate recommendations clearly
- Oversee tax projections, estimated payments, and extension calculations
- Coordinate with clients' attorneys, financial advisors, bankers, investment advisors, and family office personnel
- Manage multiple engagements at once while keeping deadlines, budgets, and client expectations on track
- Review staff and senior workpapers, coach and mentor associates, and help with scheduling and workflow during busy season
- Look for opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships
- Stay current on changing tax laws and regulations
Qualifications
- Active CPA or EA
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 8+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a focus on high-net-worth compliance and planning
- Experience reviewing Form 1040 and 1041 returns
- Strong tax research skills
- Gift tax (709), pass-through (1065/1120-S), or private foundation experience a plus
- CCH Axcess experience preferred
- Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
