6-month Contract-to Hire
This role will be dedicated tax, and the ideal candidate would have Bachelor's degree in accounting with core expertise related to taxation accounting or real estate accounting, as well as be general knowledge about sales tax.
Five year or less experience.This role would be processing based and reviewing invoices for tax liability and researching monthly general ledger spend.
Position Summary Description
Supports the Treasury & Planning department with the following duties: - Assist with monthly sales and use tax review, annual corporate tax filings and other tax research and support
- Assist with real and tangible tax returns, analyze current and past financial data and performance
- Prepare financial reports and projections; analyze trends in financial performance and provides recommendations for improvement
- Other ad hoc financial modeling and forecasting.
- This role will also assist other Treasury & Planning functions, strategic initiatives as time and workload permit.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting with core expertise related to taxation accounting or real estate accounting.
Master’s or CPA are a PLUS only!

Essential Functions- Develops, implements and maintains comprehensive tax record keeping systems to ensure proper tax treatment for all transactions and assets, including treatment of leased and owned property.
- Provides input, analysis, calculations, etc. on tax-related aspects of forecasts and projections.
- Assists Senior Tax Specialist with the preparation, support and filing of tax returns and other tax-related documents and disclosures.
- Prepares journal entries for tax accruals for month end close.
- Produces accurate tax data, codes, functions and reports necessary for maintaining the optimum tax positions. Ensures these reports are kept up to date with tax laws and system modifications / upgrades from software vendors.
- Obtains or provides resale certifications, contacting taxing authorities and vendors and coordinating audits for state and local taxes, especially for non-Florida jurisdictions.
- Reviews sales / use and property / ad valorem tax laws against regulations in other states in which business is conducted to determine if any registrations need to occur, or if any returns need to be filed and/or taxes paid.
- Maintains compliance with GAAP, RUS and tax laws and regulations.
- Assist as time permits with implementing policies, procedures and internal controls, ad hoc reporting and other administrative duties.
- Perform other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.
