We are looking for an experienced System Test Engineer to join our Test & Integration team in Columbia, MD. This is an excellent opportunity to work with sophisticated telecommunications, networking, and Air Traffic Management systems while collaborating with engineering teams, customers, and technical stakeholders.

Job Details

We are seeking a System Test Engineer with strong experience in hardware and software system-level testing, preferably within mission-critical communications, Air Traffic Management (ATM), telecommunications, or advanced networking environments.

This position will be responsible for developing and executing test procedures, validating system performance, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and supporting customer acceptance testing.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working hands-on with test equipment, analyzing technical requirements, documenting defects, and collaborating with engineering teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and execute system-level test procedures for hardware and software components
  • Conduct functional, performance, security, and integration testing
  • Support informal testing, system verification, and customer acceptance testing
  • Develop test plans and verification strategies based on system requirements and use cases
  • Review system and software requirements for testability, coverage, and traceability
  • Manage test environments, equipment, scripts, and supporting documentation
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document hardware/software defects and unexpected system behavior
  • Maintain accurate test results, defect reports, and historical test documentation
  • Work with engineering teams to investigate and resolve technical issues
  • Interface directly with customers and partners regarding technical requirements, test plans, and system performance
  • Support testing of telecommunications, VoIP, radio communications, and networking systems
  • Participate in multiple testing and integration activities simultaneously

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of system testing experience, including hands-on hardware testing
  • Experience testing Air Traffic Management systems, radio control equipment, VoIP systems, advanced networking, or other mission-critical systems
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software integration and system-level verification
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and formal test procedures
  • Background working with telecommunications technologies such as VoIP, T1, ISDN, POTS, and TDM
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience documenting defects and maintaining test traceability
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into test procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical teams

Preferred Experience:
  • Digital and analog telecommunications systems
  • Radio communication systems and Air Traffic Management technology
  • Test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, TIMS, Viavi T-BERD, and Sage Multi-Channel Test Instruments
  • Performance and simulation tools such as VOTER and GL Communications TDM solutions
  • Network analysis tools including Wireshark
  • Linux operating systems and IP networking
  • JIRA, JAMA, and test management platforms
  • Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Industry standards including ED-137, MIL-STD-461G, FCC 47 Part B, FAA-G-2100H, FAA NextGen, and DO-278A
  • Experience working in production or highly regulated technical environments
