    Job Overview:

    The Sustaining Engineering Manager oversees all activities related to legacy product support, including production troubleshooting, supplier obsolescence management, cost-reduction initiatives, and design improvements (I2V). This role is responsible for setting team priorities, developing engineering talent, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The manager serves as the primary interface between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external partners to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement for legacy products. Lead and manage the Sustaining Engineering team responsible for supporting and improving legacy pump products, ensuring production continuity, supply chain resilience, and ongoing product quality through strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sustaining engineers to support legacy pump production lines.

    • Oversee and prioritize the resolution of complex production and supplier issues to minimize downtime and ensure supply continuity.

    • Direct the identification and qualification of alternative components and suppliers to address obsolescence and mitigate supply risks.

    • Guide and approve I2V (Innovation to Value), cost-reduction, and design simplification projects to improve product performance and reduce costs.

    • Ensure all engineering changes and documentation updates comply with regulatory, quality, and company standards.

    • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for recurring or high-impact production and field issues.

    • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and R&D leadership to align on priorities and resource allocation.

    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sustaining engineering activities, such as uptime, cost savings, and issue resolution.

    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the team.

    • Manage team workload, performance, and professional development, including recruiting, training, and performance reviews.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for legacy product support with internal and external stakeholders.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution (Master's degree or MBA preferred).

    • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience

    • 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role within pump solutions, fluid handling, or related industries.

    Preferences:

    • Proactive, self-organized leader with strong organizational skills, strategic planning experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

    • Strong customer-facing communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening abilities, and the capability to uncover customer needs and articulate value propositions.

    • Technical and analytical problem solver with strong engineering principles, mechanical comprehension, and expertise in Fluid Power (Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Electromechanical Systems).

    • Experienced cross-functional leader skilled at influencing teams, managing stakeholders, and driving business results through collaboration and effective team management.

    • Product and project execution expert with experience delivering impactful presentations, optimizing processes, and applying project management methodologies (PMP/Six Sigma certifications a plus).

    • Continuous learner and team mentor with experience developing junior engineers, adapting to evolving technologies, and supporting growth in Life Science market applications.

    Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

    • Fully site based in Sheboygan, WI

    • Availability to travel up to 15% of the time (e.g., customer visits, training at our technical centers, trade shows, etc.).
