Job Details
The Operations Manager will oversee day to day production operations and provide hands on leadership to supervisors, leads, trainers, technicians, and operators. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the operation consistently meets safety, quality, production, cost, and delivery expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead daily manufacturing operations while ensuring production schedules, output goals, customer requirements, and cost targets are achieved.
Build and maintain a strong safety culture by enforcing safety procedures, participating in audits, responding to incidents, and proactively identifying and reducing workplace risks.
Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development to supervisors, leads, trainers, technicians, and operators while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Manage staffing, work assignments, overtime, shift coverage, training plans, and workforce readiness to ensure production demands are consistently supported.
Conduct performance reviews, identify employee development opportunities, recommend promotions and wage adjustments, and address performance or disciplinary matters when necessary.
Maintain high quality standards by ensuring process discipline, supporting ISO requirements, reducing defects, and building quality directly into the manufacturing process.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, root cause analysis, and other structured problem solving methods.
Improve equipment reliability, availability, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance by partnering closely with maintenance and engineering teams.
Partner with Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, Engineering, and other departments to quickly resolve production issues and achieve plant objectives.
Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and employee training programs to ensure standardized processes and a properly trained workforce.
Train and support employees on critical manufacturing systems including SAP, eMaint, MeasurLink, and Acadia.
Maintain accurate production, quality, safety, staffing, and performance records.
Lead regular operational performance reviews and communicate results, challenges, corrective actions, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing employees and leading manufacturing teams.
Strong understanding of production operations, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and workforce management.
Proven ability to lead from the manufacturing floor and develop high performing teams.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Strong communication, problem solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work on site and support manufacturing operations across shifts as needed.
