Position Summary

The Surgical Scrub Technician supports safe, efficient cosmetic surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining the sterile field, organizing instruments and supplies, anticipating surgical needs, completing required counts, and supporting room turnover and instrument processing.

Early starts may be required; weekend cases are not expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for scheduled procedures.

• Establish and maintain the sterile field in accordance with aseptic and infection-prevention standards.

• Inspect and organize instrumentation based on procedure requirements and surgeon preferences.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team and pass instruments and supplies safely and efficiently.

• Perform and document required sponge, needle, sharps, and instrument counts; report discrepancies immediately.

• Assist with sterile draping, patient positioning, specimen handling, and equipment setup within assigned responsibilities.

• Support efficient room turnover and maintain operating-room readiness between cases.

• Perform instrument decontamination, sterilization, and biological monitoring as assigned.

• Maintain sterilization records; inspect package integrity and indicators; and monitor supply expiration dates.

• Maintain preference cards, instrument inventory, and surgical-supply organization.

• Promptly report equipment, supply, or inventory concerns to leadership.

• Follow applicable PPE, bloodborne-pathogen, sharps-safety, surgical-smoke, and occupational-safety practices.

• Contribute to the development and improvement of operating-room workflows and preference cards.

• Perform other duties appropriate to the role and within training, competency, and applicable scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist certification required.

• Minimum of one year of surgical scrub experience.

• Current Basic Life Support certification.

• Formal surgical technology education or training, or equivalent experience acceptable to the Company.

• Demonstrated competency in sterile technique, aseptic practice, surgical instrumentation, decontamination, and sterilization.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

• Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient during surgical procedures.

• Ability to follow direction and communicate effectively with the surgical team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Plastic or cosmetic surgery experience.

• Ambulatory surgery or body-contouring procedure experience.

• Sterile processing experience.

• Surgical instrument inventory or preference-card experience.

Startup Expectations

As the surgical program grows, the Surgical Scrub Technician may assist with instrument inventory, preference cards, sterile processing, supply organization, room setup, turnover, and related operational needs. All clinical responsibilities will remain within applicable law, training, certification, competency, and Company policy.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing during surgical procedures.

• Frequent bending, reaching, and use of fine motor skills.

• Ability to move surgical trays, equipment, and supplies.

• Potential exposure to sharps, blood, body fluids, disinfectants, chemicals, surgical smoke, and infectious materials.
