Evidence Based Supported Employment (EBSE), also known as Individual Placement Support (IPS), or Employment Specialist is a core component of recovery for adults with a severe mental illness. The intent of the program is to ensure that adults with a severe mental illness achieve and maintain desired community-based employment that pays at least minimum wage, while performing the same work alongside others without psychiatric disabilities, to increase self-sufficiency and decrease dependence on public systems of care. The Employment Specialist provides support and guidance to individuals to discover and enhance their strengths and ensure their success in employment positions. Assists individuals enrolled in the EBSE program, in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery. Must have the ability to coach, teach and motivate others.

Education & Experience

Must meet at least one of the three following:

  1. Bachelor''s Degree in a human services field with two (2) years of related experience required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Michigan LBSW/LLBSW. Candidates who do not have a LBSW/LLBSW may still apply but must acquire within the Michigan licensing board guidelines.
  1. Michigan Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.

  2. Associate's degree preferred with at least a minimum of 1-year applicable experience

  • BLS required.
  • Michigan Chauffeur's Driver's License required
  • Experience in placing individuals with special needs or multiple socioeconomic barriers
  • Experience in job seeking skills instruction, job placement, and job development in supportive and non-supportive employment settings
