    Description

Are you passionate about protecting people and facilities through new technology? Amazon Worldwide Physical Security is seeking a Support Engineer to join the Physical Security Innovation Solutions team and help secure Amazon"s global network. You will test, qualify, and integrate physical security hardware and software across Video Management Systems and Access Control platforms, ensuring compatibility and functionality at scale.

In this hands-on role, you will work at the intersection of hardware engineering and cloud technology, testing security devices against enterprise systems, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and documenting your findings. You will drive projects independently while contributing to initiatives that protect Amazon"s sites worldwide. If you thrive on solving complex technical problems and turning ambiguity into actionable outcomes, this is your opportunity to make a tangible impact on global security infrastructure.

    Key job responsibilities

Test and qualify new and existing security devices against a variety of Video Management Systems (VMS), Access Control systems, and other third-party solutions, ensuring compatibility, integration, functionality, and quality standards are met.

Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to obtain the necessary equipment, software, and licensing needed for testing.

Build and test AI/ML-driven analytics and automation that extend the capabilities of physical security systems, validating accuracy before field deployment.

Provide technical guidance to internal teams and stakeholders as needed.

Help implement and integrate solutions with existing physical security systems and platforms.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Physical Security, OTI, Loss Prevention) to support organizational priorities.

Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of issues to the appropriate teams.

Create and maintain documentation (e.g., user guides, knowledge base articles) for hardware processes, procedures, and solutions.

Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security regulations in the physical security domain.

    A day in the life

Your day starts by reviewing assigned projects. Mid-morning you set up a new security device in the lab, running compatibility and integration checks against Video Management Systems and Access Control platforms. You build and test AI/ML-driven analytics and automation that extend what our physical security systems can do, validating accuracy before field deployment. After lunch you track down vendor licensing, troubleshoot an integration issue, and document your findings so results are clear and repeatable. Working closely with the Program Management team, you largely drive your own work, building and qualifying the technology that keeps Amazon"s sites secure.

    About the team

The Physical Security Innovation Solutions team develops and supports security solutions across Amazon"s global network. We start from the problem, understanding our customers and the risks they face, then develop, validate, and scale solutions that enable secure and efficient operations.

We identify, test, and qualify the hardware and integrations that power Amazon"s physical security systems, partnering with field security teams, operations, and technology partners to prove what works and roll it out at scale. Our mission is to build innovative solutions that protect Amazon"s people and facilities while supporting the growth of the network.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
