    This role is responsible for qualifying and developing suppliers, resolving supplier-related quality issues, improving process capability, and ensuring supplied materials and components consistently meet quality, delivery, and performance requirements.

    The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams — including sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, engineering, and quality — to reduce supply risk, strengthen supplier performance, and support plant and business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serves as the technical authority for supplier quality strategy, risk management, and escalation resolution across critical suppliers and commodity groups.
    • Leads complex supplier investigations using advanced problem-solving methods, including root cause analysis, statistical analysis, and systemic corrective/preventive action validation.
    • Owns supplier quality performance governance, including development of scorecards, KPI review cadence, risk segmentation, and executive-level reporting.
    • Drives supplier quality improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, process capability, cost of poor quality, and on-time corrective action closure.
    • Provides expert oversight for supplier qualification, approval, requalification, and audit strategy for high-risk or business-critical suppliers.
    • Leads onsite supplier audits and assessments, including process audits, system audits, and special investigations tied to field issues, escapes, or recurring nonconformance.
    • Partners with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Supplier Development to influence supplier manufacturing controls, process validation, PPAP/APQP execution, and change management.
    • Reviews and approves complex supplier corrective actions, verifying effectiveness through data analysis, control validation, and sustained performance monitoring.
    • Establishes and standardizes supplier quality tools, procedures, inspection strategies, and best practices across plants, programs, or business units.
    • Coaches and mentors other supplier quality engineers and cross-functional teams on advanced quality methods, supplier risk mitigation, and quality system expectations.
    • Uses advanced data analytics to identify emerging supplier trends, systemic failures, and preventive actions before issues impact production or customers.
    • Leads containment strategy and recovery planning for major supplier quality events, minimizing plant disruption and protecting customer deliveries.
    • Travel to supplier locations as needed to support audits, investigations, supplier qualifications, and development efforts about 5%.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
    • 5+ experience in supplier quality, supplier development, manufacturing quality, or process engineering.
    • Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and CAPA.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and tolerances.

    Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

    $77,963.33 - $126,200.00
