Role Overview
The Supplier Quality and Development Engineer utilizes QA/QC principles to maintain high capacity utilization and optimize manufacturing and service operations, ensuring products and services meet customer requirements. This position is responsible for managing, developing, and reporting on quality systems and processes within the supply base in support of ISO9001:2015 quality system requirements and vendor qualifications and audits. The role supports all business units under the MPWA Power Generation organization.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; at least three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing or service environment. Engineering degree preferred.
Specific education and training in Quality disciplines including: ISO9000, TS-16949, and/or QS-9000. Also training in Lean/Continuous Improvement, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC. Supplier Quality experience is preferred.
Proficient in blueprint reading and part requirements.
Experience in measurement techniques used in a manufacturing and repair environment.
Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing experience desirable.
This position requires an excellent communicator who can lead co-workers at various levels.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
Must be able and willing to work extended hours as required (including weekends).
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software, electronic mail, statistical software, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
Certifications:
The position requires certification as a Certified Quality Engineer or Lead Certified Quality Auditor within one year of employment.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk and/or hear. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Eye and hearing protection may be recommended and/or required in some areas.
