General Job Information
The Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) is a cabinet-level agency within the District of Columbia government, committed to the safety, permanence, and well-being of children and families residing in the District of Columbia. Charged with protecting child victims and those at risk of abuse and neglect, CFSA fosters collaborations within its administrations to deliver exceptional family-focused services to the community and its residents.
This position is located in the Office of the Deputy Director for Out-of-Home Care Support. The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of social workers and support staff members providing direct professional social work services to children and families in the areas of abuse and neglect. The work impacts the agency's mission of providing services and contributes to the overall efficiency of the operations and service delivery program.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Supervisory Social Worker duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Qualifications and Education
Master's of Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
One (1) year of child welfare supervisory experience preferred.
The incumbent shall possess:
Licenses and Certifications
Must be a current DC Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to practice social work in the District of Columbia.
Requires a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions/Environment
The work is performed in a typical office setting

Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Collective Bargaining Unit : This position is not covered under a collective bargaining agreement.
Duration of Appointment : Management Supervisory Service (MSS) - Regular- At-Will
MSS At-Will Statement : Positions in the Management Supervisory Service (MSS) serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Pay, Plan, Series & Grade: MS-185-13
Position Designation : This position is deemed as "safety" sensitive pursuant to DCMR 6B Section 410 and is subject to a criminal background check, traffic records check (as applicable), pre-employment drug and alcohol test, reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test, post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test, random drug and alcohol test, and return-to-duty or follow-up drug and alcohol test.
