    What is the Opportunity?

    Aecon Engineering Services Inc., the former United Engineers and Constructors, an Aecon Company, is seeking a Supervising Mechanical Engineer to support Nuclear Generating Stations out of our Charlotte, NC office. The successful candidate will manage the mechanical engineering and design efforts to modify and upgrade existing nuclear power plants. This could include general plant upgrades, component replacements, electric power uprates (EPU), among other types of plant enhancements.

    What You'll Do Here:

    • Function as the mechanical engineering lead on various nuclear power plant modification projects.
    • Manage the mechanical engineering and design team, adhering to the established scope of work, monitor and manage the engineering cost and schedule performance.
    • As the mechanical engineer of record for assigned projects, using your professional engineering license to sign and seal engineering documents developed under your supervision.
    • Develop engineering change packages to support nuclear plant modification work.
    • Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
    • Ability to coordinate interdisciplinary team of engineers and designers to complete project tasks on schedule and on budget.
    • Reviewing relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support project development.
    • Ability to develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.

    What You Bring To The Team:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
    • Minimum 8 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for the power generation market.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical power system design and developing modification packages for operating nuclea powerplants
    • The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
    • NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
    • The successful candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be capable of collaborating with the multi-discipline engineers and designers
    • Professional Engineering (PE) license in U.S.
    • Experience in HVAC and Fire Protection/Detection Systems is preferred
    • Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent)
    • Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems (Preferred)
