We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and analytical candidate with operational submarine experience to help us assess the performance and influence the capability development of the Navy's Submarine Advanced Processor Build (APB) state-of-the-art tactical capabilities. Our team works heavily with system data and observations, combining sound technical acumen, creative problem solving, and domain knowledge to develop relevant and novel test strategies and measurement approaches. Our findings serve as key drivers of innovation that push the boundaries of submarine system capability and improve systems for Fleet end users. The Signal and Systems Analysis Group (KTA) provides data-driven design and analytical assessments of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) system performance with operator in-the-loop to advance the warfighting capabilities of current and future systems. Evaluate developmental submarine technologies at the algorithmic, functional, user interface, and end-to-end system level, enabling decision makers to make informed choices on the future direction of the Navy's submarine tactical systems. Your duties will include:
Determining appropriate analysis methodology and measures of performance, including exploring new approaches
Using thorough data analytics and systems engineering techniques and applying relevant operational and instructional expertise such as submarine mission operations and employment, sound propagation, and target motion analysis principles to perform analysis and draw conclusions
Communicating test methodologies and results to sponsors and external organizations
Planning, executing, and directing in-lab test events at integrator facilities
Collaborating with a community of submarine system experts that include researchers, developers, engineers, and current and former Fleet personnel
Coordinate, plan and execute occasional sea test events with developers, integrators, testers, and Navy laboratories. Your duties will include:
Developing end-to-end test objectives
Designing event test runs and defining a test schedule that efficiently stresses new tactical capabilities
Ensuring participation from other Navy platforms in support of test objectives
Defining logistics requirements including personnel assignments and shipment and setup of test hardware
Developing detailed measures of performance and data collection strategies to support post-test analysis objectives
Leading planning meetings to achieve the above objectives
Creating a report that captures key findings during the test and briefing this report to stakeholders
Participating as an embarked member of the test team during at-sea events to support test execution, system observation, and data collection

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
