General Summary

Astronics Test Systems is seeking a highly motivated and skilled TPS Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a part in developing software and hardware solutions for customers, to perform parametric, functional and diagnostic testing of various UUTs to include of various communication electronic assemblies, military tactical radios and amplifiers in addition to Astronics Test Systems test equipment for internal only testing. 

Daily involvement will include understanding and capturing customer requirements, defining automation of test scenarios, implementation of test scenarios through code, cable development and integration.  The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of both hardware and software testing principles, knowledge of automation tools and frameworks, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to mentor and assist in leading a small team

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Requirements Analysis

1. 1. Perform analysis on technical OEM documentation, schematics, and UUT behavior to understand the functionality of the UUT regarding determination of test requirements 

• Test Design of Wiring Harness and accessories

1. 1. Design physical interface connections requiring document generation of an electrical schematic or wire list and bill of material to connect the UUT input/output (I/O) to the Astronics test station I/O
   2. Determine and assist procurement of components as materials required

• Test Suite Automation

1. 1. Develop automated  test suites to implement defined test requirements to apply stimulus to and measure outputs from the UUT 
   2. Perform debug and troubleshooting procedures as required to resolve failure conditions during development and reported by end users through use of external test and measurement equipment and software debugging tools.

• Test Execution

1. 1. Execute manual and automated tests to verify product functionality, performance, and reliability
   2. Analyze test results and identify root cause of failures

• Job Performance Tools

1. 1. Use of revision control software for all source and document data
   2. Use of project management, issue and bug tracking and workflow automation software tools.

• Mentorship

1. 1. Support and mentor of less experienced engineers in enhancing knowledge in tactical and airborne communication equipment, RF parametric measurements, and troubleshooting.

• Customer interface may be required

Basic Qualifications (must have):

1. Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and assembly drawings
2. Extensive experience with software development and writing automated test programs
3. Knowledge of basic electronic components and ability to determine operations based on component datasheet
4. Ability to perform analytical reasoning and problem solving with knowledge in performing root cause analysis and recommending correct action to resolve test failures
5. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate the understanding and methods of RF parametric measurement principles
6. Programming knowledge in C#, C++, Python, or similar Object Oriented languages
7. Experience with all types of test equipment (e.g., RF spectrum analyzers, RF Generators, RF Receivers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
8. Good communication and interpersonal skills
9. Position is not a remote position

Education/Experience:

1. Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum 10+ years' experience or equivalent background in similar field.
