    Responsibilities

    This position will provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting, as well as nursing homes and assisted living facilities affiliated with FSU SeniorHealth, consistent with the practices' goals and objectives and the current standard of medical care.

    • Provides direct patient care by conducting assessments, diagnosing conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating patient outcomes. Delivers and coordinates care under established protocols and physician supervision, performs approved clinical procedures, responds to changes in patient status, and initiates emergency interventions when necessary. Develops care pathways and clinical guidelines in collaboration with the healthcare team, analyzes clinical practices to improve quality and efficiency, and ensures timely documentation of all patient interactions in the electronic health record.
    • This position works closely with the other practicing clinicians at FSU SeniorHealth to address and manage patient care needs between office visits. This will include

    review of messages and requests for information or prescriptions from patients, and review and signing off on lab, imaging, consultant and other reports. Addressing

    abnormal results and findings as needed in coordination with the patients assigned physician. The position will include developing relationships with patients as needed as a collaborating clinician, particularly for patient populations whose primary physician is in clinic for limited times.

    • Communicates verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physician, the care team and other relevant healthcare providers. Documents in the patient's electronic medical record all relevant data including but not limited to results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patient's condition and response to therapies/interventions; and communications with supervising physician. Utilizes appropriate prescriptive privileges for identified patient population. This position has prescriptive authority for prescribing, ordering, and or administering drugs and necessary medical devices.
    • Maintains all professional requirements for licensure and certification. As it relates to the clinical responsibilities, participates in the education of medical students, residents and physician assistants in the FSU COM training programs as needed in the clinical setting.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited PA training program.

    • Current valid Florida Physician Assistant as outlined in Chapter 458, Florida Statutes; or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain licensure in Florida within 30 days of hire.

    • Current NCCPA board certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

    • Current DEA license, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification by certifying agency, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

    • Post-job offer, but prior to hire, the following will be required:

    • Current PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) test as performed by a qualified physician from within the past 6 months.

    • Physical examination completed by a qualified healthcare provider/physician from within the past 6 months.

    • Within 30 days of hire, you must provide:

    • Documentation of vaccination for Tetanus within the last 10 years.

    • Proof of immunization OR positive titers for Hepatitis B.
