Position Summary:

 

As the Staff Accountant you will be responsible for performing related account reconciliations. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wages, including taxes, garnishment, and deductions; communicating and providing support to third-party vendors. Researching, compiling and summarizing data.

 

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all payroll-related taxes, voluntary and involuntary withholdings, and quarterly and annual tax reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit processes and other requested data as needed.
  • Research and resolve issues with state and local agencies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts associated with assigned payroll, taxes, and other withholding accounts.
  • Reconcile PTO accruals.
  • Create and maintain subsidiary schedules to support monthly journal entries.
  • Maintain documentation of assigned processes.
  • Various ad hoc projects as requested.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with daily operations
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. 
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology. 
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel  

 

Required Qualifications:

  •  Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance requirements, and payroll-related taxes
  •  Knowledge of accounts payables
  •  Knowledge of office administration and procedures
  •  Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures
  •  Knowledge of general accounting principals
  •  Proficient in relevant computer software (QuickBooks, Excel and Microsoft Office)
  •  3 plus years of payroll and accounts payables and general accounting experience
  •  Experience with use of QuickBooks is a plus
  •  BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration Preferred
