SUMMARY: Accountant should have strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with management, co-workers, and payors. Responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following are indicative of the essential functions required to perform this job successfully. Other duties may be assigned by management.

  • Responsible for the daily reconciliation of receipts with the End of Day Report and recording into the accounting program, including analyzing and resolving discrepancies.
  • Receive, log, deposit, and record into the accounting program daily checks. Examine checks for proper endorsement and amounts.
  • Process daily files from banks (EFTs) into the accounting program and ensure proper recording of bank activity.
  • Assist in monitoring daily cash balances and cash positioning.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of periodic AR hindsight review procedures required to evaluate the Company's AR positions.
  • Reconciliation of assigned general ledger and balance sheet accounts to detect, prevent, and correct accounting inaccuracies or imbalances and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining fixed asset inventories, records, and depreciation schedule verifying appropriateness of capitalization in accordance with GAAP and MWCHC accounting standards and controls.
  • Assist in review of accounts payable invoices and input into accounting system, as needed.
  • Assist with inventory cycle, physical count processes, and reconciliation. Maintain an inventory by cost and object on all supplies and a par level for reorder. Ensures compliance with internal Quality Management and/or safety protocols as required.
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining records relevant to the processing of material requisitions, purchase orders and inventories.
  • Assist in receipt all property and process for shipment outgoing properties.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on the processing status of all purchase orders and invoices.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
  • Review, report and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, as needed.
  • Coordinate and ensure all monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes and transactions are accurate and booked in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow forecasts and reports.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Assists with budgeting within the organization.
  • Assist in other areas of the accounting cycle when requested.
  • Assist financial audit preparation, field examinations, and coordinate the audit process along with CFO, to ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
  • Prepare reports for middle managers and senior leadership on financial activities when requested.
  • Recommend, establish, and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures relevant to the organization.
  • Prepare various reports, such as those involving federal grants, regulations, and statistics, as required.
  • Implement efficiency enhancements in accounting procedures.
  • Practice professionalism and confidentiality when exposed to sensitive information.
  • Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Arrives at work on time and comply with MWCHC company attendance and tardiness policies.
  • Possesses the ability to get along with co-workers, patients and company visitors.
  • Follow all policies and procedures relevant to the health center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree majoring in Finance/Accounting required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, and auditing. Knowledge of GAAP practices and principles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints. Ability to present speeches and articles for publication. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and complex percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles required.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical/diagram format. Must be able to generate and maintain reports from statistical data collected from various resources.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Must possess the ability to work efficiently and effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to use fax machine, office copier, and computer required. Previous experience with MicroSoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer, or another web browser, is a must. Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail are a must. Must be self-motivated and comfortable working on several projects in concurrence.
