Staff Accountant

Location: Benton Harbor, Michigan
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Salary: $55,000–$65,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a mission-driven Staff Accountant to join our team in Benton Harbor. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who wants to build a strong foundation while taking ownership of a full-scale month-end close.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, up to three years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. This individual should be proactive, collaborative, and motivated by making a meaningful impact through their work.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and support the full month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.

• Prepare and analyze account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

• Assist with general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records.

• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.

• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other day-to-day accounting activities as needed.

• Ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and overall efficiency.

• Communicate financial information clearly with both accounting and non-accounting team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

• Up to 3 years of accounting experience; internships and relevant academic experience considered.

• Experience or strong understanding of the month-end close process.
