Azure Storage Geo Replication is a cornerstone of Microsofts cloud platform, safeguarding customer data and ensuring continuous availability across regions at massive scale.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation of geo-resiliency, replication, data protection, and business continuity capabilities for Azure Storage. In this role, you will work on some of the most challenging problems in cloud computing, developing services that protect exabytes of customer data, improve regional resiliency, and enable customers to confidently run mission-critical and AI-powered applications on Azure.
Azure Storage stores and protects exabytes of customer data across regions worldwide. The Geo Replication team is responsible for developing the technologies that provide industry-leading durability, availability, disaster recovery, and regional resilience. This role offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to one of Microsofts largest cloud platforms while working on distributed systems at extraordinary scale.

Masters Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python
OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python
OR equivalent experience
Experience with:
6+ years of software development, including building products and services, scalable distributed systems, and cloud services
Designing and building large-scale distributed systems
Working with cloud infrastructure, storage systems, databases, or replication technologies
Distributed systems concepts, including durability, consistency, availability, and fault tolerance
Troubleshooting complex production issues in large-scale cloud environments
Multithreaded and concurrent programming
Data structures, algorithms, testing, and performance optimization
Geo-distributed architectures, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools
Leveraging AI technologies for code generation, testing, debugging, documentation, and development productivity
AI-assisted operational workflows, anomaly detection, telemetry analysis, and incident response automation
Incorporating AI tools into software engineering workflows while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
