Description

Iteris is looking for a Sr. Engineer that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying transportation planning and engineering techniques to solve complex issues in transportation. You will work in partnership with Iteris senior management and engineering/planning staff as well as with state, regional, and local agencies to deliver various transportation planning projects to improve our communities.

What you will be doing:

Manage complex transportation projects from inception to completion, ensuring high quality deliverables meet agency guidelines, and client expectationsTrack project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work using project management software to ensure profitability and timely delivery for public sector contractsDirect and mentor junior staff by assigning tasks, reviewing technical work, and guiding their professional developmentCoordinate multidisciplinary teamsLead the preparation of long-range transportation plans, such as General Plan Circulation Elements, Active Transportation Plans (ATP), Complete Streets plans, and Vision Zero/systemic safety plansLead Senate Bill (SB) 743 compliance evaluations by managing Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) assessments, establishing thresholds, and developing local VMT mitigation frameworksManage the transportation components of CEQA/NEPA documents for major regional infrastructure improvementsAnalyze multimodal transportation data, including traffic counts, collision records, transit ridership, and emerging mobility data to develop data-driven recommendationsServe as the primary point of contact for public agency clientsPresent technical findings and project updates clearly to City Councils, Planning Commissions, and regional agency boardsSupport the design and facilitation of public outreach programs, ensuring meaningful community engagementIdentify and track upcoming public sector Requests for Proposals (RFPs) (and other solicitations)Lead the preparation of competitive proposals, including defining scopes of work, estimating staffing hours, and building project budgetsParticipate in interview presentations to secure new contract winsLocal travel will be required for project-related tasks and client meetings

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $131,300 and $146,200 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
